There are probably as many types of scissors as there are kinds of fabric.
Here a just a few: quilting scissors,
Kai heavy duty steel sheers- They cut heavy material and stay sharp for
many months. They are easy to hold and not too heavy.
Fiskars scissors are known for their quality. The titanium scissors are
great because the blades resist knicks and stay sharp longer. They
are available in many sizes from small to cut threads and larger to cut
several layers of material. Some have spring action handles to reduce
hand fatigue. You can always spot a Fiskars by the bright orange
handles.
The Gingher knife edge scissors are great. The paddle shaped blade
keeps away the bottom layer of fabric allowing a close cut to the
stiching line in applique work.
Blunt tip scissors are great because they won't puncture fabric or your
fingers and are good for little clipping jobs.
Many sites offer discounts, sales and even free shipping. Take some time
and do a little research to get the right scissors for you. You won't be sorry!!!
